Cafe Cheat Day
With a snappy name and an ambience that instantly gets your eyeballs rolling , Cafe Cheat Day tempts you to cheat with a sense of overwhelmingness and no guilt.
Hinting on a mellow tone of philosophy and fun, think on what a cheat day means to you! A day when you break away from the routine and just let go. The brainchild of a Dubai resident couple, Cafe Cheat day is just about two months old. Their visit to Pune inspired them to bring a little buzz of their world down to this city.
Every inch of space is utilized with sheer intelligence. The elements are so Arab and quirky, it’s unbelievable. The counters are an immediate reminiscent of a swanky private pampering space. The Sheikh and Sheikha miniatures, the vibrancy of colors, the standalone swing and the vivacious walls will have you gaping 360 degrees at all times.
Their menu is primarily inspired by middle eastern cuisine which includes stone baked Khubs, finger licking hummus, crunchy falafel and some Manakeesh! There are also some Tacos, Pasta and Freak Shakes to suit your moods, well its cheat day so why not?
For those who have any experience of staying in the Gulf or those who frequently visit will instantly connect as to how the texture of the Khubs (Pita Bread) and the cheese is different than what we are accustomed to in the name of Lebanese cuisine.
The cafe sources their coffee from the Gulf, the cheese and other condiments are tailor made to replicate the essence of the Middle East and also an in house brick oven where they bake their own khubs and breads.
The Falafel, Hummus and Manakish (twisted and rolled) are one of the most authentic versions you will find in the city, also extremely delectable. With a bowl of the hummus they serve, I could pretty much allow more than one cheat day a week????
The Chicken Barbeque Wings are another noteworthy mention. Perfectly smoked, blades of chicken with meatiness intact. The barbeque sauce is clearly their forte which adds a distinguishing factor to the dish.
The shakes here are something which are attractive and have an equally delicious flavor, which is not the case commonly. The Cookie Monster has a creative, instagrammable appearance and the taste surprises you with the dark chocolate centre. The vibrant blue color is organic and not the artificial flavored ones, as we were told.
The Unicorn Love fared well losing its place to the former. The Cookie Monster was a clear winner for me.
We also tried the Creamy Garlic Pasta which was median with no stand out elements.
The Moroccan Tea is definitely something to look out for. A well balanced preparation with a soothing effect. Perfect end to the meal.
Head to cafe cheat day for some scrumptious Arab Grub at very affordable prices. Can’t wait to try their Shawarmas and some freshly spun cotton candy, yes they’ve got that too. Go try it out today!
